Most of the Church was buit by Sir Nicholas de Cogenhoe, a knight of the garrison of Northampton Castle in 1264. His arms are on the pillars of the arcades. He held the manor until 1280 when he was interred in the Crusader's Tomb which can be seen in the south aisle.
